SOLAR
SEnS Capital develops and manages PV (photovoltaic) solar energy installations, which use light energy from the sun to generate electricity. The PV solar market is growing fast, notably in a number of European countries with attractive subsidy systems for PV solar.
SEnS Capital focuses on medium-sized installations on the ground and of roofs, with a capacity of 500 kWp to 5 MWp (surfaces of at least 10,000m2). In 2009, SEnS Capital developed 2 installations in Belgium with a combined capacity of 2 MWp. New installations are being developed in Belgium, Italy, Spain and France.
External investors also have the opportunity to invest in SEnS Capital’s PV solar installations. PV solar projects offer attractive returns in combination with a predictable risk profile.
BIOMASS
SEnS Capital is, under the name of Tree Power, active as a developer and manager of pyrolysis installations. In these installations, flash pyrolysis technology is used to transform second generation biomass into pyrolysis oil. Pyrolysis oil is therefore a renewable energy-carrier that can be used in various applications, ranging from co-combustion in power plants to upgrading to transport fuel.
Together with BTG-BTL, the developer of the flash pyrolysis technology that Tree Power is using, a first commercial pyrolysis plant is being developed in Hengelo, the Netherlands. This plant is scheduled to become operational in 2011. In Spain and France, local representatives of Tree Power are working on the development of a portfolio of pyrolysis installations. WIND
SEnS Capital is participating in existing wind energy farms, where current owners of a wind energy farm wish to get paid upfront for part of the future cash flows of the farm, for example to reinvest in the development of new wind energy farms.
SEnS Capital also offer consultancy services for structuring and financing of wind energy projects.
